Goldberg’s Dream

Do robots dream of music?

Goldberg’s Dream by the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester reimagines an orchestral music concert by fusing it with immersive media, creating a powerful audio-visual experience. This concert delves into the interplay between human consciousness and machine intelligence, exploring the tension and harmony between technology and human expression.

Our role
Spatial Audio Concept, Sound Supervison, Technical consulting, Audio Simulation, Sound Design, Spatial Audio Engineering and Live Mix

Our spatial audio concept and sound design aimed to engage the audience viscerally, making abstract concepts like consciousness, enlightenment, and integration tangible. We incorporated ambient sounds and synthetic textures that represented the machine’s internal processes, including data processing and digital communication signals. Following the narrative arc from the machine’s awakening to its journey toward self-awareness, our sound featured intricate soundscapes that evoked otherworldliness and exploration. With the help of cutting-edge spatial audio technology and VR visualization, we brought this ambitious project to life.

Working with the entire team was a special experience. From sound design to customized 3D audio solutions for the concert hall, they are technically highly competent while also capable of developing novel and creative approaches. They also possess a deep understanding of musical and artistic processes, making them the perfect partners for our AI-assisted orchestral production „This is Water“ with IKO 3D audio projection. Very few can currently claim the same combination of courage to take such risks, enthusiasm for innovation, and practical, experience-based expertise.
