Faoladh is a cinematic VR and Fulldome film which follows the perilous journey of a 9th century Irish child who’s village is attacked by Viking raiders and you, the viewer, will play the role of a wolf like guardian spirit that must guide him to safety.
In a departure from the typical communication path where the director contacts a sound designer, we took the initiative to approach the director directly. After experiencing mind blowing visuals in a dome event, we were captivated, yet recognized untapped potential in the sound.
Faoladh posed a unique challenge during the mixing stage as the film aimed for two distinct output formats: VR and Fulldome cinema. Employing a hybrid mixing technique, we successfully achieved a remarkable outcome. Despite inevitable compromises, our efforts were celebrated with the prestigious “Best Narrative” award at the Fulldome UK festival in 2023.
