Europa-Park’s “Pirates in Batavia” takes visitors on an adventure through the world of pirates, and sound is an integral part of the ride’s story-telling. We crafted detailed soundscapes to bring the pirate world to life, from the thunder of cannon fire in a full-scale battle scene to the rich ambience of an Indonesian jungle. We also brought Jopi, the pirate’s Otter sidekick, to life through voice design, transforming the animatronic into a believable character. Through carefully crafted and expressive delivery, Jopi is able to engage in a dynamic conversation with his leader, Bartholomeus van Robbemond.
